Subject : Can anyone help / advise?

Hi girls hope you don't mind me popping in here but thought I would ask the experts!!!!

My 1st son was born last June and failed to gain weight whilst breast fed, after 7 weeks I tried him on formular to top him up and straight away he projectile vomited the whole lot back up. To cut along story short he is allergic to cows milk protein and is now on prescription only milk and is doing really well.

I am currently 6 month pregnant and have been told that its likely that this baby too will be allergic to cows milk protien and the best advice is to breast feed as long as possible. Problem is my breast are the same as they were last time, no leaks, no change in size - to be honest don't think they know I am pregnant, lol..

Is there anything I can start doing now to help feeding when lo is here? Can I start pumping now and see if that makes a difference? Have got a duel electric pump to try this time. Really think that had I had more help from mw and hv last time I would have managed longer but by the time it was offered my milk had all but dried up.

Also I was offered tablets that make you produce breast milk last time, has anyone else taking them and do they work???

Thanks in advance girls! xxxx

its such a shame that you didnt the help you needed last time. id ask your midwife at your antenatal checks for advice, but as with regards to pumping it wont make any diff just now.

my own boobs did nothing till my sons were born both times i had no leaks or any signs that they would work till after the birth.

Sorry no advice but just wanted to say please dont try expressing now. I believe expressing whilst pregnant can be dangerous. It can bring on prem labour it works when your bfing a baby whilst pregnant and why that d. Not sure howoesnt cause problems but expressing could.... mmmm now Im confused! I just remember at breastfeeding workshop we were told its linked to prem births....

Have you got any iron level problems? That can effect your supply. Also were you eating and drinking enough the last time you bf?

sorry dont have anything else to suggest...

Good luck x
