Subject : How long after your sweep...

did things start to happen for you?

Midwife came to my house yesterday morning to perform my sweep at 41+1. She said it was very successful, that I was dilated 2cms and she said my cervix is very soft so all the pains I have been having over the last week or so have obviously been doing some good.

Continued to lose blood and mucus (sorry TMI!!) for most of the day and throughout the night, accompanied by period type pains and some very strong tightenings.

Had quite a glob of blood stained mucus come away in the middle of the night and feel ok this morning, not a lot to report really. Still losing blood and mucus but not as much and the blood is now more brown that red.

Just wondering if this all sounds good and like things might be on their way? Have a re-assessment booked for Thursday if nothing has happened by then, but just hoping that contractions could kick in before then and wondered if this was likely, in anyone elses experience?

Thanks for reading and any advice you can offer xx

Hopefully this will mean things are starting for you. I had 5 sweeps and they didn't get me into labour, I ended up being induced. Lost plug etc. and was 1cm dilatd but that was it I'm afraid. Sorry I couldn't give you more hope, but hey, everyone's different. I've read loads of stories on here of ladies going into labour after a sweep so fingers crossed for you honey.

Sounds like things are happening. With my 1st the sweep didn't work with my third i went home and started having irregular contractions and he was born 11 hrs after the sweep and with my fifth I had been having pains and a brownish discharge I had my sweep at 41+1 early evening and she was born early the next morning. Good luck

Congratulations Cass! I have been having sporadic contractions since the sweep but there are here for maybe, an hour or so, then stop, then come back a few hours later. Just wish I knew what my body was up to! x
