Subject : early signs of labour - is this it?
I went to bed as usual last night, after experiencing lots of sharp twinges low down, and ended up getting no sleep until around 7am this morning. I was unable to sleep during the night as I was experiencing stronger pain in my lower pelvic area, ie roughly where the baby's head is. Baby is engaged and it was moving around much more last night and today.
I could not feel my bump etc tightening up when I put my hand on it, but there was definitely something going on, possibly the cervix starting to thin(?) I started timing them - they were coming every 8 mins and lasting for 35 seconds most of the time. They were strong enough that I had to get out of bed every time and breathe deeply. As morning dawned the pain went away and I have only felt it very occasionally throughout the day. Have not called the midwife as there has been no 'show' or waters breaking. My bowels were certainly loose during the night. Maybe Baby Gee will come tonight.
