induce labour

hi
dunno if it will harm baby, but if ur trying to induce labour...walking certainly did it for me.i was 13 days overdue, had 2 sweeps, but nothing happened. so was booked into hospital to be induced, the ward was busy so me and my partner jus walked round the hospital for ages, (my pedometer said over 2.5 miles)the nurses said that i would have to stay in over night and have it done in the morning.as i tryed to fall asleep, at 3.15am my waters broke on their own and away i went.
i even tried the old pineapple trick...to this day i still have never touched a pineapple since...that jus made me cringe he he.
hope this was helpful
good luck

the best inducer (if you are at full term) is sex with your partner. Much prefered to have the semen from my husband start me off than the 'pig semen' that oxytocin is made from that they use to induce you with in hospital?? a lot more fun too. GL

I would check this out - i am researching oils for childbirth at the moment and have read that clary sage is great for actual labour but that you shouldn't use it during pregnancy. This is what i read:-
Clary sage (salvia sclarea), one of the oils you are strongly advised to stay away from during your pregnancy, Due to its labour inducing properites But can be extremely beneficial to you on the big day. It has a narcotic effect and can be used either blended into a carrier oil which your birth partner massages into your lower back, or in a warm compress pushed onto the lower abdomen or lower back – basically, where it hurts most. Another way to use it is to dab a couple of drops onto a face pad or tissue to hold to your nose/mouth when you need some relief. A good combination is clary sage with rose oil. This might be a substitute for gas and air. Just before you feel a contraction coming, breathe in deeply from your face pad, then after the contraction has passed, breathe in gently and rhythmically from the face pad.
