Subject : Help ...
Is anyone having problems with their toddler now baby has arrived?
My daughter is 2 1/2 and my son 3 months. Daughter has turned into a little monster. Some times she is the sweetest little thing. Giving her brother kisses and helping me change his nappy and things. Then she will turn and hit or bite him.
She bit him this morning, we had a big talk about how biting is bad and it hurts and that she is not to do it. She agreed, and then 5 minutes later bit me!
I have tried the naughty step which worked for a little while but not anymore. I have tried taking her bedtime toys away, not letting her watch her programme on tv. Praising her good behaviour
I am now at a loss.
Does anyone have any suggestions ??

Hi, yes I do! Well it's much better than it was but I don't think it helps that the new arrival coincides with toddlerhood and 2nd molars coming.
I don't have much advice but do you find your daughter can be worse with your son when she's tired? I often find that Angelo can be a bit naughty with his sister late in the afternoon or if he hasn't had a good nap. At these times I just find it's best to keep them apart where possible. Not ideal but hopefully it will pass soon. x

Hi don't usually come on this one, my lo will be 25mth when new one born and am dreading this sort of problem, not going on experience but i'd imagine being tired probably does make a difference. Is she too young to understand reward charts? Collecting stickers and getting a present should work for an incentive but I don't know if 2/1/2 is too young

Thanks, the reward chart worked really with with her potty training, but I just felt it didn't seem right giving her a sticker when she didn't hurt her brother! But maybe we'll give it a go.
Having said that she sat on him last weekend and he really squealed (I don't think he was hurt he just got a fright) and I think it might have given her a real fright too because she doesn't "really" want to hurt him she just wants attention and she hasn't done anything since!

Hi
I have the same age gap and it was fine for the first couple of months - now i have the devil child! Don't really have any suggestions- we are planning some time everyday for her to do something on her own without the baby and then threaten not to do this when she's silly which is working quite well. My main prob is she continuously screams and wakes the baby so we are all over tired and its lovely when she goes to bed!
