Subject : LARGER SIZED NURSING WEAR, HELP REQUIRED

Hi

I am a very proud older first Mother of a wonderful little girl, aren't they all though, and desperately need your help.

Can anyone possibly guide me to a shop , website or even a dressmaker where they have large dresses for breastfeeding please? I am a size 20-24 dependant on fit and cannot find anything remotely suitable to wear for my daughters christening. I have seen tents in all colours Sad but nothing like a summer dress which is sophisticated and glamourous.

Many thanks!!!!! :\)

Hey hunny!

Welcome to BE, everyone on here is lovely and I am sure someone will be able to help you, but this forum doesn't get many people - you'd be better posting this in the 'baby' forum (look in the drop down menu next to "forum jump" just above the post).

Good luck sweetie!

Hiya
Next was my saviour really - but unfortunately bras and such like are hard to come by in larger sizes, it feels sometimes like i am too fat to be a mum!!! But Simply be offer some bras etc but they are not the best quality. If i thought it would make money i'd open my own website to sell this stuff!!
Size 22 and extremely happy mum to be and mum to one!!!

Hi Alicatss, we asked our Style Editor Sally-Ann Carroll about your query and she was happy to try and help. Here's her response:

Hello! Firstly congratulations on the birth of your baby. I suggest you take a look at Simply Be. It's a fresh and inspiring catalogue dedicated to the woman of size 14 to 32. They have lovely summery styles and I am sure you will find a suitable dress for a christening, that also lets you breastfeed without too many adjustments!
Also Alicatss, I am considering using your question for my Fashion SOS page in Prima Baby. Have you any objections to your query appearing in print pls?
Good luck and hope you find something nice

SallyAnn

The catalogue can also be viewed online at www.simplybe.co.uk
Hope that helps! If you could let us know about using your query in print. Thanks, Web Ed Alison

Hi SallyAnn

No problem to use my query in the magazine at all. I would be more than happy to help in anyway at all. If you decide to do a feature I would love to have some professional advice!! If you wish e-mail address is aliandrob@moonlit.myzen.co.uk Have tried Simply Be and haven't had too much joy before but will check again.

Kind regards
Alison

Hi Alicatss

I'm Liz and i own Mama Feelsgood an on-line breastfeeding company, at the moment our tops go up to a size 18 but we are going to extend our range up to a size 24 in the near future, although probably won't be until next year (we are a small company and basically budget has limited us to our present size range, but this will change!)

We just wanted to say we are listening to the needs of ladies across the size ranges, and we are doing something about it!

No body should ever feel like you shouldn't be a mother because if your size, and there are a lot of ladies whom require the plus size clothes it's us retailers whom have to understand this!

there are some American websites that do plus size nursing wear, only thing is you have to pay duty etc. try www.motherhood.com .

Take care, Liz

I have to say it is tough to find bigger sized nursing clothes. Most standard cataclogues stop at XL which is 18(at a push) and not if you've got the boobs to go with your frame.

I'm not the most discreet of people so have just continued to wear normal clothes and pull the top up or the boob out, but not for everyone i know.!
