amnio

Hi Sarah

I have not had an aamniocentesis but I did have a CVS test, my results were 1 -280. At time I was only 28,
The test was uncomfortable, but the nurser and doctor were great, they talked me right through the procedure and what to expect,
I had a small injection to numb the area and they passed needle into me, while all the time the nurse was scanning me, they took the necessary cells,
I was told to go home and rest and that is what I did, although I was not in any pain at all, but we both felt better to rest, I also took the next two weeks off sick to be sure,
The consultant rang the next day with the results and I am pleased to say our son is now ten...
we are TTC although I am 38, if we are lucky enough to become pregnant I will be thinking about the CVS again and not waiting for the triple test.

Good luck and let me know how you go, I will be thinking of you.

Lots of love

D X

Hi Dinky

Thanks for the response, i'm terrified of the amnio causing a miscarriage (too much looking on the internet). I spoke to the hospital today who will be doing it and to a midwife who was quite reassuring in that their miscarriage rates are abit less than 1% and to just go for the consultation on Tuesday before the procedure and make a decision from there.

My hubs really wants me to have it done as the seed has now been planted in his head, I understand this and I know I should have it done but am still scared.

am just a big pouf !

Hi Sarah,

I didn't have the amnio as we were low risk according to the triple test but being 36 when I fell pregnant, I had to consider that this might become a reality. I hope it goes well for you and that you get the right results and a healthy baby. Keep us updated.
