Subject : Was anyone more nervous the 2nd time around?

Hi ladies, a question for those of you who have had two or more home births. I had a homebirth with my first and it went really well, lasted 13 hours but had a straightforward waterbirth with no complications.

I'm due my second on the 23rd June so just over two weeks. My pool is set up and ready and the midwifes have dropped off the kit so I'm ready to go, but feeling a tad more nervous this time. I can't really put my finger on it but I guess with your first you are very open minded about what will happen whereas this time I know there is a little more pressure to have a good birth at home.

I don't feel that I've put the time in with the yoga and hypnobirthing as I'm busy with a 2yr old! Will everything be ok/be easier this time???

I think a lot of people feel more worried the 2nd time (or even the 4th LOL) as they think they know whats coming but every birth is different and they do tend to get quicker and easier. (my 1st was 13 hour and my 2nd 4 hours!)
I sure everything will be fine and when it happens I'm sure you will cope really well!!
xx

Thanks Michelle, nice to hear some encouraging words. I guess I just have to relax and get in the zone, hope it happens soon. x x

I'm in exactly the same position as you. I gave birth at home 1st time round (he's now 2!!) and am due again in November and am worrying about labour more this time round. I also haven't done yoga this time around or spent nearly as much time alone with this bump!!!! Good luck x

Hi lu007, my lo is also 2! I'm just hoping all the crawling on your hands and knees and squating whilst getting them bathed/changed etc will replace all the yoga!!
I've hired a heated pool this time so am trying to spend time in that every night for time alone with the baby.

I'll let you know how it goes and best of luck for Nov. x x
