following on from soda's update on her twins, i thought i would update you on cariad's progress.

cariad was born at 32+5 on 30th october, weighing 4lb 11oz. she is 28 weeks or 20 weeks corrected and is now 12lb 14 (2 weeks ago). she was lucky and was only in SCBU for 20days with no problems except juandice so went under the lights for 24hrs and that helped enormously. her first head scan was clear at 4 days but the follow up showed a tiny cyst with means that she must have had a bleed due to her prematurity. luckily it was in a part of the brain that will make now difference to her. she is developing exactly as she should be.

she saw the consultant at 3 months and he was really happy with her and didnt want to she her again for 6 months (she will be 9months actual age).

developmentaly she is somewhere between her corrected age and actual age. she does many things that a 6 month old does ans some things she is more like a 4month old. for example she still cant roll over but can sit for about 30secs on her own without support.

she eats a rediculous amount of food and happily eating 4 meals a day.
she is a little madam and knows her own mind already.

Thats great, Your lo is gorgeous. Kara is 20 months now and was born in Sept 2007 at 34+4 weeks. She spent 2 weeks in hospital with no problems only slight jaundice. She had to stay in until she fed properly and that was it. She is doing eveyrthing she should be doing for her age and is so funny now. You wouldnt even know to look at her that she was a prem baby, It makes you so proud looking at how well they have come on.

Im trying to reply again, BE ate my last post!

Cariad is such a cutie, she doesnt look like a prem baby at all.

Kenny was born at 33+1 and has done so well. He is nearly 18 months now and in the early days developed mostly at his corrected age but did some things earlier. As soon as he could roll over there was no stopping him, he was about 7 or 8 months before he mastered that. He walked at 13 months and is now starting to talk at 18 months. Try to remember that all babies develop differently, Kenny walked 5 months earlier than my friends full term baby.

what a cutie...

Amelia was 5 weeks early and weighed in at 5lb 7oz. Luckily she suckled when put to the breast so she did not need tube feeding. She was in SCBU for a week due to severe jaundice and not been able to maintain her temp very well.
She is now 14 months and is a lively little girl. Walking, running, shouting, bossing etc..

Hi
Your little girl looks gorgeous and sounds like she is doing really well, bless her.
Elise was born at 28 weeks and she also had a small bleed. i was told it was in the part of the brain that deals with learning but so far she is a bright little spark. They will monitor her for things like Autism and ADHD but so far she is very responsive.
She isnt walking yet but Im not too worried as mums of older prems have said that often their los have been 18 mths to 2 years before theyve walked.

Maria x
