hello everybody,
my name is dorra and i am expecting our second child in august , i do have a single pushchair at the moment but by the time i give birth my older daughter will be 2 years old so i want to ask everyone who has the same problem. what would you do?
would u go for the cheaper option and bye a buggy board that u can attach to your pushchair but the child will be standing up or would u go and bye a double pushchair . i am really really confused, please anyone who reads this article can u please let me know your opinion.
thanks everyone

my lo will be 20 months, and I am buying a double buggy as im not planning to get my son out of buggys yet, some people lkeep them in buggys til 4, i dont think il go that for but definantly for at least 6 months. I know its not that ong but i dont think a couple of hundred pound is a waste of money for that amount of time, as if he is tired and im out il have to carry him whichwould be a pain, and what if he needs a nap?
im also getting a new single buggy with a buggy board for short journeys,
if u cant afford to get both just try and work the best arrangement out for you financially, x

hi dorra, congratulations!
I had baby no 2 in Feb and my daughter had turned 2 a month before! We bought a tandem double pushchair as I didn't want to face the prospect of going shopping by myself and having to deal with pushing a pram, whilst holding my dd hand or reins, and shopping i.e. basket or similar! Plus although she is a good walker she stiill has her stroppy moments where she'll just go the wrong way or stop and kneel on the floor!
Therefore I would definately recommend spending the money on a double pram. You can choose one withing your budget and with features that you feel will benfit you...there are quite alot to choose from!! Personally I wanted a tandem for ease of getting through doors (my front door aswell as shops!!) and also to be able to use it as travel system by being able to put the car seat on the pram!! I chose the graco quattro tour deluxe and I love it! OK it is quite a huge looking thing, but most doubles are, but it pushes and manoeuveres (sp) very well, and on a positive my eldest loves it!!!!!
Hope that helps....have fun researching!

Hi, Jacob was almost 22 months when Noah was born in January, and still needs to use the buggy sometimes, so we bought a Phil n Teds Sport. It's great, very compact and easy to push one handed which means I can hold a shopping basket in the other hand in the supermarket, and I can hold Jacob's hand when he's having a walk. None of the tandems were suitable for us, as Jacob's very tall so he's already over the 15kg weight limit they have per seat - the Phil n Teds is 20kg.

Only thing with a double is you can't have the baby facing you, which I really missed, so we've just bought a Loola Up for use when Jacob's at nursery or if we're just going for a short walk xx

hi everyone !!

im am expecting on the 4th july & my younger son is turning 2 next month, i have decided to go for the baby dan pram chair which goes on top of my pram. which i hope is a good idea !! lol.
maybe this would suit you rather than the buggy board or double buggy as i wasnt keen on either of them.

Hi, my DD was 19months when my 2nd DD was born. I bought a Nipper 360 double buggy (one of the lightest doubles on the market, side by side by so far the only shop I've struggled with was Claires Accessories). I got a really good deal on Boots website, my friend has just bought one she is due in 2 months and her son will be 26months. All I would say is wait til your baby arrives and try them both in it - if you have slip/papoose the baby can be in this with older child in pushchair for a week or 2 whilst you find the right one for you. I did this, DD 1 was happy with my choice and we've used it a fair bit but I have to say that she much prefers to walk. She just turned 2 and is finding her independence which I don't feel right curbing as that is how she will learn, I have a "wrist rein" which is much easier when pushing DD2. It is personal choice but I would strongly suggest you wait, until baby is here you really can't tell!!!!!! Good luck.

hi katie first congratulation, second i have looked at some reviews regarding the seats and most of them say that the chair can be loose and not secure enough cos it keeps sliding forward, as well as that it does make tha pram very heavey and u will not be able to leave the pram unattended and because i am a worry freak it would be very scared to put something on top of my newborn. but many thanks because i never heard of it before and it might be handy for some people but i don't think it will work for me
love dorraxxx

I had 16 months between my first 2 so obviously had a double buggy especially as ds was born in October so it was better for the cold wet weather, i couldn't really have done without it especially when i had shopping to carry as well. This was awkward if i wanted to use the bus though and used a baby carrier and buggy whilst ds was little, which wasn't for very long he's a big lad lol!
I did find that once dd turned 2 in the June i just used the buggy board all the time, had no probs getting her to stay on it, i used to tell her she was helping me push the buggy lol! It was a lot easier to get out and about, going on buses etc.
I think it totally depends on what you do day-to-day, what your preferences are and how keen your daughter is to walk. I bought all my stuff second hand, or was given it, as thought it was a waste to spend loads of money on stuff that we possibly weren't going to use for very long and have since passed on my buggy board to a friend!
Hope that helps x x

i think buggy boards are a bit rubbish - is it just me?

my 3 year old has one attached to my double buggy
(i have twins in that)

i think it makes the buggy hard to push - as you have a big head hitting you in the stomach! also adds weigh to the buggy

if the angel gets fed up - then walks - you have a big lump of plastic stuck on your buggy making walking harder....

plus mine fell off once
i had a toddler in the gutter with scraged hands and a runny nose...

if you only have two kids - get a double buggy
you can always stick your shopping in the unused seat!

am i a moaner or what!!!!

I'm going for Phil&Teds all the way!!
My oldest dd is 3 in August and youngest dd is 20wks.
I say get a second hand Phil&Teds if on a budget, with a cocoon. Its the only double i think that is worth its money. And i don't know of any other double (except an Apple £700!!) that converts to single when you're oldest is off at playschool etc.
It broke my heart parting with the money for it but I'd happily spend it again now knowing how fantstic it is

Hi
I've got 18 months between my boys so bought a Graco Tour. Apart from being heavy, its been brilliant, already had a Graco Tour single so the car seat fitted and now Sam's too big fror that they can take it in turns to go in the back. I love it, especially when they are both asleep and that would never happen with a buggy board.

Got abuggy board aswell but rarely use it, we just don't get on with it and I find it annoying Mad

I'm glad i saw this post as my 2nd baby is due end of november and my lo will be 2 exactly - i know i could do the buggy board thing and he will want to walk more then but i know it just isnt practicle for me - if i needc to go shops and get things done whilst out and about i would feel very stressed having newborn and then toddler trying to run off and sitting down etc...

i think were getting the phil and teds sport so can be converted to single so not waste of money - had a push round in shop with lo in it and he seemed happy only bit not sure about is tucking baby away underneath - feels a bit bad as with first had facing me in pram and this one will be like hidden!!!

I have just been reading through this thread and would like to say thanks to everyone who ahs posted an opinion. I am due in Jan and my DD will be 28 months by then. I have always been keen on a getting a double buggy but my mum thinks a buggy board will do. My dd does walk but still likes to go int he buggy as well especially on way home from playschool and when we've been out for a while also I would be happier that she was strapped in somewhere when we are out shopping in town and I have to deal with basket and 2 children.

You have all made me absolutely sure that a double is the way to go so now I just have to decide which one. I think I am in the minority in that I prefer the side by sides so am looking at the Cosatto You and Me range just have to wait to find out what colour bump I've got. Will certainly look at some of the ones you've all recommended though.
