Bit scared/nervous

i have an elective c section booked on friday and admit now i am a bit nervous.
I seem to be able to recall the spinal anaesthetic making me feel very sick and they had to wait 10 mins til i stopped vomiting before they could start.
Also had a side room last time as hospital was quiet but this time they like to put all c sections in together. I loved the peace and also privacy of that last time to bond but think i may not want to stay as long this time round if i'm with 3 other ladies.
Also dh has forgotten that afterwards you cant really do hoovering etc and was reminded of this the other day.

awww babe, i am sure you will be fine.
I was lucky enough after my emergency to get my own room(at my hospital they are all single) but i was out shopping in 48 hours so you wouldnt need to stay in very long if you are sharing.
I cant believe your little one is due so soon, the time flies by.

Arh Filo just because it's planned doesn't mean your not alloud to be nervous!! I'm nervous already and I have 20 days to go!!!

I had a private room last time for the first couple of days then I was in a ward, I didn't mind the ward as you can close the curtains for alone time but it's also nice being with other woman to keep you company when there are no visitors (and midwifes!!)

You'll be fine and prob sent home after a couple of days anyway I think its around 3 days is the longest time to keep you in 24hrs being the Nice guidelines (a little birdie told me!)

Good luck

you know something honey? i think it is quite acceptable to be nervous!!

despite having c/s before, and going into theatre for loads with my job, i was still a bit cagey too!! i think part of it is that the time has come, anaesthetic, surgery - you know what is coming!!- back to the nappies, night feeds, caring for a lo totally dependent on you again! i think that plays a great part too!!

a lot of units dont like having c/s women in single rooms - the logic being that if anything happened to you, if you were in a room with someone else, then they could call for the midwife. if you were on your own, you'd be reliant on someone coming in!

i know you will be fine, but good luck anyway!! let us know how you get on, and all about your new lo!!

well last time they said the room was good because i had to be monitored so frequently they didnt want to disturb other ladies. Lots of bms and fluids etc.
i work as a nurse and so also feel a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. Dh who is also a nurse will be with me til evening anyway.
Only thing that worris me also this time is that i have developed a latex allergy and am worried to make sure that i am ok.

Good luck tomorrow and I'm sure you have nothing to worry about :-) I'm having mine 3rd April - it's a Fri so I'll be out on the Mon. The longer I stay in the better - more peace and quiet time to bond with baby away from our tantrummy toddler! hehe.
