Hi yes ebm can stay in the fridge for up to 7 days as long as you keep it in the back of the fridge. To be honest, I have left if for longer and my babies have been fine. It is normal for it to separate and shaking it before using it is the right thing to do. x

Sorry if this is a silly question but does it need warming or can it be given to baby straight from the fridge? I am having twins so am planning to express so hubby can help with feeds

trying4babym - this isn't a silly question because I've been wondering exactlty the same thing! I still have two weeks to go but am reading and learning to try and hope I can get it sorted when bebe arrives...however, I wondered this too as my book says you can refridgerate the expressed milk for a few days but it never said how to deal with it when feeding and I am not sure if it needs warming either!?

Hi,

I always warm mine by standing it in a bowl of hot water, there's nothing that says you HAVE to warm it, but it's easier for them to drink and digest when warm.

As for telling if it's off, apparently you should smell it. If theres virtually no smell it's good. I suppose if it's off you'll smell it straight away like normal milk, but I don't think I've had any go off to know - at least I hope not! It does taste very different to cows milk, almost slightly gone off even when it's fresh, but the taste does differ hugely depending on what you've eaten.

Hello

warming it is a good idea - If you use the sterile bags for storage it warms through much quicker in the hot water than if you are warming it in the bottle. The bags can also go in the freezer if you express enough for more than one feed. Good luck - my little one refused to entertain the bottle for weeks but we got there in the end, with the tommee tippee closer to nature bottles.

i've always warmed feeds thinking that would make it more appealling as my lo does like not having the breast so anything to make him happiest!
