Hi Elaine & boys,
Ive got 3 children; 2 girls Molly 11 and Mya 8, when they were little I found it abit challenging to say the least! A baby and a toddler certainly keeps you on your toes as you must know! There is 2 years and 9 months between them.
As for my 3rd Freddie (16 months) there is age gap of 10 years for him and Molly and 7 years between him and Mya.
Having experienced small age gap and now big age gap I find theres pros and cons to both, it was easier when Freddie was born because my girls are more independent and need my attention less but then on the other side, Freddie wont have that really close bond that my girls share because theyre closer to each other in age.
Also Freddie has the added benefit of 3 mothers! (me, molly and mya!)
which im not sure hel love when hes older all the fussing!!
well will stop rambling now lol!!

Hi,
I have a 17 1/2 month old son, and my second son is due on 14th January, so there'll be a 21 1/2 month gap.
I am worried about how I'll cope- hubby is v good with our son, but he has to get up at 5.30am for work and doesn't get back until 7.30pm, although he'll be having 5 weeks off when the baby's born, which will be a big help. Also, our son's starting nursery on Wednesday's from next week- decided to do this as we have no family living nearby to help out, and it means a change of scene for him. Would be great if some of my friends were in the same situation, but they either have no children or only one- ah well, someone's got to do it first I guess!

there is 14 months between the first 2 and 18 months between the second 2.
Shellyc - Thats a great age gap! No I dont have a triple buggy and i hardley use my double buggy. J walks, Isaac goes in the buggy and Tyler in the carrier, harness thingy.
When baby gets too big to carry then isaac will have to walk unless we are gonna be doing alot of walking. I think its important they walk with you from a young age as they get road awareness from young.
One of my pet hates is seeing a child in a buggy when its blatently obvious the child can walk, or a child of an older age being pushed about (unless of course the child has a disability then its only fair) otherwise its pure laziness. J has walked with me since he was just over a yr old (not great distances) but by 18 months he would walk by my side almost everywhere and i could trust him not to run off (still didnt let my guard down though) Isaac is 20 months and is still in a buggy for long trips but he is getting used to walking next to me but I still have him in a harness as I cant trust him 100% yet.
What about every1 else?

Hi Elaine,
When the baby comes I'll use a carrier when I can until he gets too big for it- I probably won't be able to use it for too long though as our son was 8lb 15oz at birth and long, and grew quickly.
I will get a double buggy, which will be useful for going on longer trips. I don't want to get into a situation where our eldest gets really tired, so I get stuck somewhere. It's hard to imagine him being able to walk far anyway at the moment- he's only been walking since the end of July, and he can't do great distances at the moment. I'll have to see what he's like nearer to the birth I guess. I do want him to walk as much as possible.
Oh, how do you find a carrier in the rain? Is there any kind of protection you can get to keep the baby dry, or can you just not use carriers in the wet?
xx

I have Ollie (4yrs 7m) and Jake (2yrs 3m) there is 2yrs and 4months between them. They are the best of friends now! Didnt use a double, my partner had been made redundant so for the first few months we either all went out together with 2 buggys or one of us went with just one child. When he went back to work i just got a buggyboard for ollie. I dont drive so he did get quite sleepy on bus journeys but could then just stand on buggyboard! I couldnt trust jake not to run off though if i had to do it again now

hiya Elaine. Everyone thinks im crazy for having my two so close together, and yeah i know at times it will be hard work but both me and my partner agreed it was what we wanted. my eldest Chloe doesnt get jealous or anything coz she's not sure whats going on and shes really good.
we are thinking about number 3 as like you we want them close together, and we will be stopping after number 3. i was thinkin about a triple buggy and what have ya as i realy wouldnt want to get one, Chloe is walking now, but shes very wobbly still. i have a double pram, mainly for when i go out on my own to be honest as when me and oh go out oh can carry her if she doesnt walk.
i defo cant trust her not to run off tho, i think i might invest in a harness, my mum thinks she is too young for a harness just yet but im not sure?!
i was thinkin of having maybe an 18month age gap between Emily and baby number 3, not for a bigger age gap, just because Chloe's bday is on the 1st sept, Emily's is the 8th sept and my oh is on the 11th sept, lol, so september is already so busy for us!!! but we will just have to see

Niblet - thats the only problem with carriers - the English weather!! I dont know if you can get anything for them. If it is raining then i put them in the double buggy.
MMS - wow ur gonna be 1 busy lady but well done to you, its gonna be alot of fun in ur house!

Hello
I'm nearly 32 and have 2 children and just got my bfp on Friday. My son Joshua is 13yrs, but will be 14yrs when the baby arrives and my Daughter Jaimee is 10, soon to be 11yrs. Quite an age gap! I am looking forward to it though! My daughter wants to come to the scan and be very involved. My son is at that stage where he just says whatever! Nicki

Hi, I am 28 yrs old
I have:
Alfie 10yrs 1 month
Samantha 7yrs 3 months
Phoebe 8months yesterday (25th)..
The first two was the perfect age gap that I always wanted. Alfie started preschool when samantha was born, and they played together lovely.. the big age gap from them to phoebe is good.. i sit here laughing that in 10 years time Alfie will be 20, maybe left home, samantha will be 17 more thn likely out tarting, and phoebe will be alfies age.. it is so hard to imagine...
the age gap has ment that the older 2 are more independant and not reliant on me 100% and are able to help out, which is a real help when u are poorly...hehehehehe
I will be thnking about another in about 6 - 12 months time so that phoebe wont feel like an only child, as by the time she is able to join in and play with them they will be too old to want her to join in...
