PCOS question

Hello ladies,

Just a quick question really. We have been trying for our first miracle for 8 months now with no joy.

My sister has just been diagnosed with PCOS (they had a little girl 4 years ago and have been struggling to conceive another) and she believes that it could be genetic. Is this the case? If so, I guess what I am asking is if so, do you think I ought to go to the doctor? I was going to wait to go to the doctor until we had been trying for 12 months, as I am 28 I thought they wouldn't do a great deal before that mark anyway. But given the new family history, do you think it would be worth going earlier?

xx

PCOS question

Hi,

I'd agree with crystal unless you're showing symptoms I wouldnt see a need to go to the doc, although i know, it must be so frustrating waiting all this time, but i'm sure you're day will come soon with your BFP!

PCOS question

Thanks Crystal and Katyjo,

Erm... as for symptoms, I'm not really sure...hair growth, well I have always been quite hairy, but then I am dark haired and I've not particularly noticed any more, but then, I guess it could be that if I have PCOS then I've always had it and therefore always been hairy?! And weight gain, not particularly, but I am a complete yo yoer diet wise, but when I do set my mind to it, I do lose it! And period pains, yes I do get them, but I wouldn't say severe, or maybe again, I am just used to them?! Cycle length, well I have been off the pill now for 10/11 months and they have been pretty regular, anywhere bewteen 27-33.

I guess I am just trying to clutch at straws, as it has been (what feels like) an eternity!

Thanks again girls

xx

PCOS question

Hi,

It's possible and if you are worried I would see my GP. I think the symptoms of PCOS vary in severity from woman to woman. When I was first dianosed 10 years ago I hadn't had a period for 18 months, was very overweight and hairy. Am not now I hasen to add, lost 6 stone and with medication periods seem back to some normality.

No one in my family has PCOS and my sister has 2 children that she caught for pretty much straight away! so again I think it really varies.

Good Luck, keep smiling

Saz x x

I was also told it is genetic, however no one in my family has it (well if they do they never have been tested as all have children). I am not overweight, not hairy and not spotty but do get the pains.......everyone is different.................
Maybe tell your doctor you have been trying for a little longer (she says quietly) and get the scan and bloods done xxx
