I need some advice (not baby related)

My eldest son went back to school on Wednesday and within 2.5hrs (lunchtime) I had a phone call to say he had been in an accident and could I go to the school. I got there to find him lying on an embankment upside down with a paramedic holding his leg. Turns out a boy had rugby tackled him (my son was minding his own business) down the hill and landed on him. When the ambulance arrived 2 HRS later we went to A&E turns out this "accident" had dis-located his hip. Oh I forgot to mention the whole time ds was lying on the floor in the rain the so called first aider of the school was making comments about how he was very good at drama and he deserves an oscar for his moaning!!!!!

Anyway his now in traction for atleast 2 weeks and were finding it very hard with having 2 lo's to llok after. How do I make a formal complaint?? Has anyone ever had this happen to there children??

I just dont know where to begin with it all!!

Any advice would be appreciated

Hopefully the above link might help a little, I hope your son is ok. Thats shocking, especially the remarks from the first aider, thats disgusting.
Hope this helps though

I'm horrified the hear how you lo was treated! I personally would arrange a meeting the the head of the school. If you have no joy there go to th local council as all schools are run by the local councils and get advise from them! Hope he's going to be ok. Hugs x x

Hi ya

I work in a school and this is absolutely DISGUSTING! The school will have a set formal complaints procedure that they will have to go through so YES - phone and ask to speak to the head and if they are not available tell the receptionist you want to make a formal complaint and ask them what the first step is they will know their own schools protocal and if they don't know it they will know which document they can find it in (as it has to be written down) and will be able to find it and ring you back!

They should take it v seriously - any school worth it's salt will!

Start with them and if there are any probs there then go to the education dept at the council as that is the next step but don't go straight to them as they will just say have you talked to the school about it!

oh my god i hope he feeling better soon.I now this nothing compaird to your son but last year my ethan in year 1 some one had pushed him into the table on his back she new about it but son never wonts a fuss so he said nothing. When he came out when school finished he started cry i got him home he was black and blue the size of his hand on back it was all swollen i was so mad so wrote a letter to the teacher to find out if she had look at his back. The teacher never look at his back becasue he did not cry. But he hates to crying in front of people. So we end up having meeting with teacher. look after your self and send hug from and up felling better soon.

I'f this happened to my son i'd probably phone the police as well and report the child that did it for assault. Nothing would probably be done in the end but itd put the frighteners up the little s*** at least x

I'd be inclined to do the same as EmmaLou to be honest - and I'd have to leave it to them and my hubby to sort out because i dont think i could keep my cool with the child or its parents...

Def make sure the school sort this out for you - and maybe see if you can claim any costs from the child or parents for anything....

Hope your lo is ok soon.

OMG thats terrible & I would definately be following it up with a formal complaint to the school. It is pathetic how long they took to get back to you regarding an appointment with the head. I do hope Daniel is feeling better & when you finally get to speak to the head that they realise the seriousness of the matter. Emmalou & SY are right though in saying it was assault & deserves to be treated as such.
