ella has always been a brill sleeperbut lately has been having nightmares and waking up scared and not wanting me to leave her, she spent fri night round her grandparents and last night was hysterial, wouldnt let me leave her room, crying so hard she couldnt breATH, oor thing took till 8.15 for her to settle hersefl but i was thinking her room is quite bare as we rent so cant decorate its plain white walls, i was thinking bout getting some posters of cute cats and dogs (her fave) to make it more comforting, what do you think? does anyone know where i can get some really cheap posters most ive seen on the net start at £4 which is a bit much or me, anyone know where to grab a bargin? ebay seems to be bargin-less theses days too!

aaww poor lil mite. Im in a private rent too. why dont u get her too draw some pictures with you then you can blue tac them to the walls together. Or u could apply to your ladlord and ask if u could paint it as long as you put it bk to its origanal colour.

hope its just a phase and that shes sleeping soundly soon!!

Another idea is to buy some mags or books from charity shops with her favorite things in and make collages to stick on the wall. You didn't mention how old she is. If you can, involve her in choosing how to 'decorate' the room.

hia, well we went out today and brought a massive pad of paper and i drew a big fluffy cat, a puppy and her fave toy lumpy coloured them in and pinned them up they look quite good up on the wall and she loved them keeps pointing at them and shouting diddy diddy! and cac! bless her, i also brought a kids magazine animals and me and put the posters of cute animals up on her wall too, she likes it a lot but when i said ok, time for bed she ran to the sofa and cried and also cried for 5 mins once i had put her down, i know 5 mins dont sound loads but she never minds bed time, she even somedays gets her dummy, and finds lumpy goes into the hall and says up, so its weird now all of a sudden and i feel mean for not staying with her, or keeping her down longer.

hiya, cant be of much help other than its probably just a phase which will pass in its own time. My lo is going through somthing similar with bath time, she always loved baths until recently so im hoping it will pass too. Also wanted to say, our lo's special toy is lumpy too lol, has been since she was old enough to hang on to his trunk! Had to trawl ebay every night for days to try and get a backup one cos its got to be exactly the same one or she's not interested lol.

To cosy up her room, Ikea do some zoo animal pictures in frames from for a few quid that are light enough (frames are white cardboard) that they can be stuck up rather than bang a nail in or get some toddler magazines as they have quite a few pictures in that you can use as posters or put together as a collage on some paper then blue tak to the walls..

Get a cheap rug, ikea do some or you can get something on ebay, you can save money by limiting the critera to local area & pick up yourself or else have a look in the charity shops for cheap decorative items, cuddly toys etc to brighten it up too & a couple of scatter cushions always look nice, Sonny has loads of loose cushions on the floor, they aren't sat on but really brighten up & make his room look so cosy & comfortable & he likes to climb them for fun.

Does she have toys on her bed, I always put sonny down with 2 teddies a mini igglepiggle bath toy & a baby rattle thing made of felt, these are things he likes to sleep with & when I put him down he plays with them & hugs the bears to go off to sleep & makes bedtime feel safe.

You might also try spending the night in her room to see if anything happens during the night that is upsetting her (rattling radiators, noisy neighbours, light from a pole outside).

Good luck with it & I hope it is just a phase that passes soon.
