Hi Faith, to be honest there are loada os agencies, all the best ones are in London but before you ever consider one, a real agency will never ask you to pay for pictures.
And you will need a good portfolio which will cost around £500 - £1500 or you wont get considered for an agency. Ill find some agencies for you, i used to work for storm modelling agency and they are great, so i can get a list of legit child modelling agencies for you soon as i can if you want? as there are so many dodgy ones around. Not personally no, i wouldnt put my child into modelling. I did it from age 3 and i wished my parents hadnt of done it as im growing up now really image concious and constantly on diets!! But if its something your determined for your child to do then at least go to the right places & do it safely x

I would like him to do it but not for him to be image concious, do you think its ok for them to do it when they are still young & dont really understand all the stigma that goes with it. I wouldnt mind him doing it for a few years while he's a baby. Do you think thats ok?

If thats what you want him to do yeah its your choice, but i have seen the effects it has on people when they grow up, even when i was like 5 years old, i was obsessed with the way i looked then!
It doesnt do that to everyone though, and there are good points.
I did it for adams and bhs when i was very young, its just when u get older it effects u more but its really upto you. Personally, i wouldnt do it but its your choice tess x x

Its okay sweetie. Honestly, dont not do it just cause of what i said but i have grew up in the whole modelling industry and i think it does affect you whether your aware of it or not! Its not all bad, especially when i last did it you get all the clothes you model and more!! Money is really good too, i used to make more money in 1 photo shoot for topshop than 2 months work at the jobcentre, but money isn't everything i suppose x x

Anyone interested in the world of baby modelling might want to take a look at the following link on our sister site gomamatoday.com
http://www.gomamatoday.com/modernmama/parenting/childmodelling/
and the May issue of Prima Baby magazine (on sale April 26) will have a special feature about baby modelling too.

ive just signed my little man up with a modelling agency called models direct. they seem really nice, they are one of the few agencys that dont take commission off earnings. i dint pay anything to apply, but when they accepted my lil man i had to pay £128 for him to be on their books for 3 years. it doesnt promise work though, its down to their clients to pick out who they want. xx

I know models direct, yeah work is never guaranteed they just let companies know of models available then its upto them not the agency, which is why its so important to sign up to a good well known agency x

I've got an awful feeling that model's direct is the company I made the major mistake of signing my daughter up with. I need to check to make sure so will get back to you all but am :xpretty certain.
I entered my daughter into a baby model of the month competition on the Bounty website and was offered a contract as a result of her coming 2nd.
My OH and I discussed it and decided to give it a go. We paid about the same as yummymummy and my daughter is now 6 and we never saw a penny of our money again. I was then horrified about 12 months after we signed her up to see the company on BBS's watchdog, say no more!!
We never had one phone call off them despite me calling to ask if there was any possibility of any work on several occasions. They are extremely difficult to get hold of too funnily enough!!!
I was too embarassed to take things any further. We just decided it served us right for being so foolish in the first place.
I did try contacting Bounty about it though and they didn't even have the decncy to return my phone calls or emails which I thought was rather rude. I have lost all respect for Bounty although I was relieved to see that Models direct no longer sponsored the competitions on Bounty the last time I looked (which was a long while ago!)
Will check it was this company before I am done for slander or anything ridiculous but am pretty certain it was.
Yummymummy I hateo t say this but I think you've just waved goodbye to your money, I'm sorry I couldn't have warned you beforehand. I hope others will read this and think twice.

Hi
Models Direct contacted me last week and said they accepted my little girls photo's and that they would have lots of work for her.
Since then another agency called BizzyKidz in London have contacted me and have ask me to sign her there, when comparing the two it seems that BizzyKidz has more rules and regs and will protect your child where as Models Direct does not mention anything about data protection and who has access to your childs photo's.
Does anyone know of BizzyKidz???

Just to let you all know I finally found the baby modelling info from when my daughter was a baby. Unfortunately I have to tell you it was Model's Direct that we signed to, so sadly I was right.
I don't know how you find out about what was said on watchdog as I can't remember it must have been about 2002 I think. I know that basically lots of people had paid to join and got no work. Also companies were listed as using Model's Driect and when invstigated they weren't.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I wouldn't hold my breath about getting any work from them but I hope that someone does post on here and tell us differently.

My little girl is registered with Bizzykidz and they are ok, they certainly keep you in the loop in terms of emails and newsletters.
We were also offered a contract with Models Direct, I did a bit of investigation work and heard only bad things - sorry!!
With Bizzykidz you are regiestered until your child is 17 whereas, with MD it's only for a few years. I also noticed on the MD website, literally anyone had access to the pictures of the children which I really didn't think was very good. On all the other websites they could only be accessed via a personal password. Having read what I did though, that would be the least of your problems.
I have to admit, I registered my little girl when she was about 7 months old and I was off work so was in a position to travel and take her to jobs. Now that I'm working fulltime I haven't even bothered updating her details. We actually have had no work from Bizzykidz, whether it's for those reasons or not I don't know. Either way I'm not big on child modelling.
Sorry!!

sorry sophie cooper, I was with elisabeth smith and they charge one of the highest fees in teh business which is why i left them. Most agencies use your photos and snapshots now and teh shots i had done with my agency only cost £65. I think you are referring to adult portfolios for £500 and all the cihld agencies say they dont need portfolios as the kids change so quickly.

My little girl is registered bith babyshak, the baby part of bsykids. I had 2 pay 90 for admin fee but this is the only payment until she is 4, you can pay more if you want to take them 4pictures that they do, about 40,not quite sure cuz havnt took her 4 pics. i researched alot before i choose an agency and you hav 2 pay one for all admi, i think this is exceptable, you dont get anything for free now days!
Anyway, i would recomend them, yuo hav 2 get a doctors note every 6 months to ensure they are healthy. My baby has not got work as yet but she was called 4 a casting 2 London for johnsons baby oil, wherethere was approx 20 babies from different agencies.
