son starting nursery! Scared

Hi i've been meaning to start my son at nursery for some time now, as im due to have my second baby any day now. Ive got an appointment to look round one on friday, but now im really scared. I've never had anyone other than me, his dad or his nan look after him. He'll be 2 next month and i know he'll love it but did anyone else feel this way? I'm only going to put him in for an afternoon a week to start off with x x

yeah - its pretty wierd but the sooner you do it the better it will be. he may find it difficult though if he thinks that he needs to go because of the new baby. my elder boy was very fragile and emotional when the new baby came and i postponed him starting nursery for a couple of months so he was a bit more adjusted.
best of luck and if he doesn't settle straight away maybe reconsider for a bit.
if you take him and he seems to like the idea then go for it!

my LO is 3 and has always been looked after by myself, daddy or grandparents and she starts nursry insept. she went to a teddybears picnic the other day and sent nanny home as she wanted to stay and play so we have bitten the bullet and put her in for 3 afternoons a week from september. i have told them there that if she wants to come home to let me know and we can cut it down to 2 afternoons but judging on the way she was the other day,she will be wanting to stay there all the time. im sure he will be fine. if he crys when you leave he will probably be fine 10mins later when he starts playing with all the new toys!
good luck, let us know how it goes x

I am sure every mother feels that way. I had started sending my daughter to nursery when she was one. She is there five days a week for the whole day. Believe it or not, for the first two weeks i cried every day. then came the series of infection children caught from each other and it seemed that i would never be able to cope both work and motherhood at the same time . it's been three months now and all feels like a dream, she completely loves being there, comes with a new thing every day, could be a new expression, word or movement. i know i would have never been able to provide her that much fun, activities and socialising she is experiecing there. So the moral of story, all ends well in the end.

Best wishes.
