Hey congratulations on your pregnancy. i'm feeling the same really - i'm almost 36wks pregnant with my 3rd baby (have a daughter who's 3 and a son 21 months) and apart from the odd "oh f**k it has to come out" sensation i'm fairly relaxed about the whole thing - no point worrying about it really - My first was only 7hours from 1st twinge to birth despite being back to back and causing lots of stitches, my second was born at home delivered by my fab hubby (classed as a BBA -born before arrival - basicallyy meaning he came so quick nobody got to us in time) this time i'm all set for homebirth and have a heated birthpool coming next week - quite excited really.

Im not worrying about it yet at the end of the day I know its going to be painful and hard work but she has to come out somehow and Im so desparate to meet her that Ill do just about anything!! The only thing I am a little worried about is that something will go wrong - I couldnt bear for anything to happen to her. But am just thinking positive!

Its is so nice to hear positive comments from people about labour. Why is it EVERYONE feels they are entitled to tell you their horror stories once they can see you're pregnant!
Im 33 wks so have been thinking about it ALOT lately but am taking hypnobirthing classes so am all for natural, relaxed labour.
This is my first and Im really looking forward to it.x

Must agree on the horror story front - Everyone feels ocmpelled to tell u the most horrendous stories. I have vowed (I have a few friends pregnant due after me) that I will only tell the positive stuff and leave the horror out of it as it can be so scary especially for us 1st timers. Everyones different arent they. I am nervous but very exited - Fear of the unknown really but so desperate to meet my baby girl/boy that I cant wait. Bring it on ;-) Good luck ladies! xx

I know what you mean, everybody feels the need to tell you what an awful birth they had and go into all the details. There is no need for that!! My mum just keeps telling me to ignore them because at the end of the day every pregnancy and labour is different, im just hoping I take after my mum. Her longest labour from when her waters broke until baby was born was about 2 hours and that was the 4th baby and he was 10lb 2oz my poor mum is only 5'1" so she has had all positive experiences!!!

Yep I agree, I want to be positive this time! my last one was 7 years ago and I was overtaken with fear and PND, so I am far more grown up and experienced and feeling calmer about it all this time around. I know she's coming and I can not sleep properly with excitement and I'm only 21+3! least this time I know what to do, what to ask for and wont take any crap from anyone lol! I'm imagining it to be like the movies this time and all emotional (in a good way!) and perfect! even better too is that it should be a quick one!

This is my first and have alwasy had a relaxed attitude to the birth, i have thought about type birth i want etc except sometimes when mothers who've been there before they imagine you to be worried. I'm not and had a dream the other day and i had the baby and it was straightforward! Was telling my manager other day and she says ii've got good attitude, she says women she knows that are positive tend to have good births and those that fret tend to have some sort of problem. So that reassure me and it lovely to hear that you ladies are looking forward to birth and you've bee there before!! xx

I love your positive post! thank you!

I am really looking forward to the birth and meeting my baby - I am so excited. this is my first baby and when I say this to people they role their eyes and look at me as if they feel sorry for me! It REALLY annoys me!

I'm really looking forward to it too! This is my first and I am scared about things like if I have to have a ceasarean or assisted delivery but I'm trying to think positively about it - it's all part of the process and at the end I get to meet my little girl who has been keeping me company for all this time!
I have heard horror stories too and while it is good to know that these things happen so you can be prepared I prefer to think of mine as being different lol!

Gatecrashing from my baby was born in june forum.

I agree with what people say about everyone feeling the need to tell you their horror storys about birth when you are pregnant - not what you need to hear!

My own birth was very positive and nowhere near as bad as I expected. I found giving birth way easier than the being pregnant part!

Been making a point of telling my friends it can be positive, and people do have nice experiences, and that its worth it for the first moment when they put your little one on your tummy.

Hi ladies,

So glad that my post gave all the new mums added confidence. I found when i was pregnant that people constantly tried to scare me. My mum was in hospital once and the lady in the next bed, kept telling me how labour was the worst pain ever, i'd never cope ect ect, after her going on for about 10 minutes, i laughed and explained it was my second!!! She didnt know where to put her face and then began tellling me how 2nd babies are so much harder! Honestly.

I have had a brilliant birth both times and i would happily go thorugh it a million times for my babies.

Hope your all excited, cause its the most precious experience you'll ever have(im sure all mums would agree) xx

Morning all :)

Well overall no matter what kind of labour we have the end result is going to be a positive one. The outlook i take is it's going to hurt and that's that lol any less pain is a bonus :)

I am expecting number 2 and to be fair my labour with dd was great even though it was induction and ended in emsc but it was never painful so if i am allowed to labour this time no problems my only slight concern is the whole pushing out bit lol but its gotta be done.

but as for labour i can do that until the cows come home. as long as they keep the bloody epidural away, lol.x

with my DD who is now 6yrs, i loved the whole birthing experience with her.... granted it took 2 days frm start to end.... it was a painless experience.... geez, i had period pains far worse than tht.... sayin tht, the only thing tht hurt me was the crowning of the head, i went numb after tht.... midwife sed "oh the head's out"... i sed "is it?" and she finally sed "nope, she's well and truely out!"
i wud love to have anuva birthing exp like tht but we'll have to wait and see.... anuva 32 weeks to go lol... wow tht seems like a lifetime atm!!!

am jst hopin tht my darling OH can handle the whole exp as he hates me bein in pain... he feels so helpless! bless him.... 2 more to cum after this an he'll becum a dab hand at it hehehe
