Aspirin and Progesterone pessaries

Hi girls,

I've just popped over from planning but was wondering if anyone could help me?

I had a mmc at 10 weeks in Nov last year then another at 8 weeks in March this year. I had blood tests and a scan for investigations and everything, thankfully, came back normal. However, at my follow up with the gynae consultant, he advised i start on low dose aspirin a month before i start ttc again and then once i get a BFP, i'm to start progesterone pessaries, once a day, until 12 weeks.

Now, i'm happy to start the aspirin but on researching the progesterone, i'm really not sure why he's starting me on it...i haven't got a hormone deficiency and was reading that the pessaries are only given if there are low hormone levels - not if they're normal.

So sorry to ramble but can anyone help?

Any advice would be much appreciated!!

I'm planning on ttc in Sept x

Hi dlp01...i was told i need to take 75mgs aspirin from about a month before ttc up until 32 weeks. I was warned too that if i was to get any bleeding in pg, it would obv seem more cuz i'm taking a blood thinning drug so not to be alarmed! Surprised

Hey hun, I have had 3 mcs and had all the tests done after the 3rd and all came back normal. We had a consultation with 2 consultants and one suggested just aspirin and the other suggested aspirin and progesterone. Both are simply a precautionary measure as my bloods were all clear. As it turned out I've just been taking the aspirin (75mg) from about 2 weeks before conception and am now 33 weeks, I have to take the aspirin until I'm 36 weeks. There are girls on here who take both, so hopefully someone will pop over and explain a bit more. But as far as I was told, they are just things that won't harm you or the baby and just might do some good. I would take everythng offered! it might just be the placebo effect, but physically doing something to prevent another mc seemed to help me mentally to try and keep positive during the early days. Good luck flower xx

Thanks Slippers - i've done a bit more reading up on it and tbh, i think i will go ahead with the pessaries once i get my BFP. You're right tho, even if it is just a placebo effect, i know for a fact it will help me feel more positive about the pg which can only be a good thing!!

Thanks again and good luck with the rest of your pg and new baby! Smile
