Advice on what to expect

Hi Ladies,
I hope you dont mind but i was wondering if you could give me a bit of insight. I have my first appointment with gynie on 19th August and im wondering what to expect. I ve never been to gynie befor although ive had problems with my cycle since i was young. Im going to see them as my other half and i have been trying to concieve since i miscarried last sept. I have had a scan which showed that my left ovary isnt working properly and i have cysts on both, although the right one is slightly better. Also i dont ov every month its a bit hit and miss. I realy just wanted to be prepared as im feeling very tense about the app. Hope you are able to help.
Huge thanks Xxx Confused

Advice on what to expect

Hi hun,

try not to panic to much the 1st appointment is pretty routine.

They normally take all your history and DH and ask a few questions etc, They will then probably book you in for some tests:

* CD3, CD21 blood tests
* SA for DH
* Smear/internal exam
* HSG to check your tubes.

As you've already had ur scan i'd imagine they'll discuss the results with u, i'd imagine they might mention PCOS/PCO which is polycystic ovaries which it sounds like you have if you have the cysts and no OV. I have this too, and their is treatment such as CLOMID available to help you OV and concieve, but i'd have thought that they'd want to send u 4 the HSG to check tubes as it would be pointless to perscribe clomid if they were.

I know its hard not to panic and i know i was very nervous for my 1st appointment but its mostly paperwork, if you have any other questions the ladies on here are fab and some1 will know the answer or been through what u have.

Advice on what to expect

Hi ladies
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your advice, it gives me a bit of piece of mind knowing what to expect. I think im twice as nervous as ive got to go on my own, unfortunately my partner cant get the time off work and my mom is away on holiday. I just wanted to know what sort of things they are likely to ask. Ive been tracking my cycle Since October last year (How many Days), and also ive managed to record a few of the months that ive not ov But not all of them. Do think it would be useful to take it with me to the app? Thanks again ladies , its nice not to feel so alone in this journey, and i wish you all the best in yours too. XXXXXXXXXXX

Ah thats tough that you've got to go on your own, havent you got a friend that could go with you?
Yes taking a diary would be helpful, i took one with me although i didnt really need it. He just asked me how long my cycles are on average and how long do my periods last.
