should i??

hi,
well my son is 17 months old and ia tryin got climb out of his cot. he has been trying this for a while but when my hubby went to go get him this aft after his nap his feet was of the matress and his tummy was on the side. the matress is as low as it will go so its not an option to move it. i spoke to my hv and she said to make the cot into a bed now. i am really nervous about doing this as he still only young and he will be able to get out so easy! but there again i suppose its better then him going over the sides from a hight. has anyone else put them in a bed this early?

thanks.

Cole has just turned 18 months and we turned his cotbed into a bed a couple of weeks ago. We have a lindarm bed guard on so he can't fall out.

Its gone really well apart from a few nights where it took ages for him to fall asleep - he absolutely loves being able to get into bed himself and he bangs ont he guard to tell us it goes up when he gets in. He can get out round the guard but we haven't so far had this problem overnight as when he wakes he is usually grizzly and we go into him rather than him waking up and getting up.

You could always turn it into the bed and see how it goes - that was our plan but as he's been so happy with his bed we are leaving it.

Hi Dee

My lo was about 12 months old when we made his cot into a bed and he loved it. We put a baby gate on his bedroom door so if he got up he couldn't get out of his room cause he was walking at 11 months, and he was able to get on and off the bed ok on his own. He is 27 months now and has been in a full size single bed since he was 18 months and he thinks it's great; he has Bob The Builder and Cars bedding and he feels really grown up. Harrison only fell out of his bed twice but I had put an old duvet on the floor next to his bed, so he has never even had the guard on the side as I was worried he tried leaning on it and it gave way.

I was worried when we first changed his cot in to a bed that he wouldn't like it, but he loves it. I wouldn't worry about him getting out of the bed, especially if he can walk.
