MMR rash or chicken pox?

Couldn't find much useful on the nhs site - don't really know why I bothered as there is more info here Happy

Cole had his MMR 3 weeks ago, and pretty much bang on 10 days after he had it, he came out with a tiny pinprick rash that comes and goes and if I look really close the odd spot looks like it might have a bit of something in it - you know..like when you get a spot thats just starting to come. I put it down to the mmr as the hv said 10 days for a rash. Now the rash is still there, but there has been a kiddie in his room at nursery off with chicken pox this week so I'm wondering if it could be chicken pox.

I don't think so as the rash has been coming and going for over a week and I'd have thought that if it was chicken pox they'd have got worse by now - although the spots do look a little like the early stage chicken pox spots in the photo on the nhs site, but I really don't know.

I'm also not sure how long the rash from mmr is meant to last - stupid hv didn't bother to tell me - think she was too busy stropping at having to do cole's injections on a day that wasn't their specified day that they like to do them.

And of course...its been really hot and it could just be a heat rash....

I'm not ringing the hv as she's rubbish, and I'm not keen on dragging him down to the doctors just to be told its one of those those things - go away! In himself he's fine, although he's teething, his sleep is rubbish but whats new, he's off his food a bit but he's never been the best eater and that could be down to the heat.

Help anyone? Happy

It doesn't sound like chicken pox to me when Max got his it was VERY obvious and from first sight for the next 2/3 days they got progressively worse and more - there was no way they could have come and gone! Once chicken pox are up they are there until they fade (we are four weeks on and they are still there!)

Dunno waht it could be though :????

Not chicken pox is a good thing Happy

Thanks hun, I think I'll mostly put this down to a heat rash then and possibly sun cream - think I might go get some more simple suncream and see if that does the trick
