Anyone awake? Need some advice please...

Hi girls,

I am 41+6 with my first baby and have an induction booked for tomorrow morning as after 2 sweeps and a week of sporadic contractions, didn't seem to be getting anywhere.

However, since 4am I have been having really painful contractions every 15-20 minutes and have been leaking a little bit too. Now this might sound ridiculous but I can't tell whether the 'leaking' is my waters or whether it is just the pressure of the contraction forcing out a bit of urine??

I am thinking of ringing the labour ward shortly to see if I can go in to be looked at and see whether anything is actually happening down there, but thought I would ask for a bit of advice from you lovely ladies first.

Thanks for reading,

Wanabeamummy 41+6 xx

Hi hun, I can't give you any advice but I just wanted to say I'm awake lol

There can be no harm in ringing the labour ward as they might be able to advise if the fluid you're losing is amniotic or urine, and a check over can confirm it for you xxx

Hope all goes well xxx

Sounds promising, I was 9 days over with my 2nd, it really drags!

It could well be some of your waters, I've had 2 and I've never lost pee when having a contractction, well not till just before I gave birth, when I was really in labour and pushing!

I would take the advice of malkymum and call them they may just let it all happen today!!!

Good luck will watch out for any news xxxx

hun put a pad on to catch the leakage after a while this will sound disgusting but it is what the hosp will tell you to do, smell it . If it smells acidy or like wee its wee if its got no odour or smells like straw id say its your waters! Good luck !

Hi girls, thanks for your replies. I have had a sniff (lol!) and it doesn't smell of anything. Also, meant to add, the last hour or so's worth of contractions have caused me to pass a little bit of red blood, should I be worried about that or is it just from my cervix do you think?

Trying not to get too excited in case I get checked over and nothing has happened!!

xx

Yes called and spoke to who I think was the world's most miserable midwife!! I asked if they could check me over and she said 'why, is there something wrong with you?' WTF! I said no nothing wrong just want to know what's going on and she said I can tell you that from here, you're in labour. I half laughed thinking she was joking but she clearly wasn't. She said to go in when the contractions get to 8 minutes or I feel I need pain relief. I said what if it is a false alarm and she said well we'll soon see (!)

Thank you for your message Wannababy, I really hope so too! xx

Same as they have been all morning really, painful and every 15-20 minutes. I am desperately Googling trying to find out ways to keep them going, I am terrified they are going to stop!! x

How are you?

def agree with the keeping walking, if it gets painful a bath can help with the pain but it can slow contractions.

good luck

Thanks ladies!

We've been out all afternoon wandering, but rain has now stopped play : ( and we have just got home. Had some very strange looks from passers by as I was waddling along one minute, then stood still bent forward holding my bump whilst painful contractions passed. Quite comical really. Had some knowing smiles from other women too, bless.

Seem to be stuck in a bit of a contraction rut at the moment though, they are coming anything between 10 and 20 minutes, with a couple as close as 5 minutes. They are lasting a lot longer now and getting more painful each time.

I refuse tocomplain as I have been waiting for this to happen for two weeks!!

Just wish there was a way I could speed things up!!

xx
