breastfeeding help?

Im new to breastfeeding and although I have tried to latch my new baby on, he isnt having any of it! I am disappointed so im expressing some for him as well as giving him formula.

obviously mine is only colustrum at the moment and my MW said to give him as much as I can. does it have to be given separately or can it be mixed with the formula milk that I have made up???

it may be a silly question, but im new to this!

i dont think you can mix breast milk and formula in the same bottle. Feel free to correct me anybody ...
have you tried different positions? My lo would only latch on proper whilst i was lying down. and for the first 6/7weeks that was how he was fed until we both got the hang of it x

Just a quick suggestion but could you see a BF counselor to help with your latch? (or even the MW should be able to offer advise)

hope things improve for you

I'd def spk to a MW..i've had someone out many times to help me. BF counsellors were great.

Yes..you can mix BM and FM...i've done it for the last 4 months. I don't express much off at work but add it to the FF for carers as its better than nothing. Just add BM when you need bottle straight away. I wouldn't advise adding already stored cooled BM to hot formula and then leaving in fridge until later.

Hope that makes sense as it would mean you'd be heating BM and cooling again and then heating up later.

Sorry, waffling, baby brain still present :) x
