Stages of weight gain???

Does anyone know if it varies for larger mummies-to-be? I was already a 16/18 when I fell pregnant and was on the WW diet. I can't go to their weigh-ins anymore but they have said it's safe for me to follow as it's the healthy eating programme rather than a full on diet.

As a result of this, I've stayed the same so far and am now in my 11th week....... should I be worried?

Hi Vibs

I was the same as you. I was doing SW and continued to do so until about 20 weeks - can't be bothered now though lol.

By 16 weeks I had put on a pound so don't worry.

All I'd say to OP is don't worry if you put on loads then nothing. I put on a stone in four weeks, eek, and then another stone in 12 so it can really vary

I also didn't put on weight until around 16/17 weeks.. since then I have gained a ton though :( Don't worry about how much you weigh, as long as baby is the right size and all that try to relax :)

Stages of weight gain???

I am 17 weeks today and so far have put on 5lbs. I am eating a good variety and seem to be eating a bit too much chocolate & crisps for my liking. But happy with 5lbs though.
When I was carrying DS 4 yrs ago I put on 4 stones over the 40 weeks and that was because I was eating for 10 people!!!! I have changed my thinking just hope I can keep restrained I dont mind putting weight on but I am hoping to put on 2 stones this time, as I am already a size 16/18 and I never want to go back up to a 26 which is what I was after having DS. Bearing in mind I was a size 8 just 6 mths before I got preg with DS.
In 4 yrs I have struggled with my weight and managed to maintain at a size 16.
But I agree with Monique Nicole as long as baby is ok then dont worry - everyone is different. x

I think so long as you are eating relatively healthy don't even look at a scale, honestly dont! With my first pregnancy I gained 67 pounds!!! I was underweight when I became pregnant and by the time dd1 was 6 weeks old I had lost 55 pounds with out dieting or exercise, honest. Your body gains what it needs. At just about 6 weeks pregnant with number 4 I am 8 stone 6 pounds at 5'4, I never gained the recommended 25 pounds I have always gained at least 50. All my babies were between 8-9lbs so not huge but always healthy. At the same time by contrast my very close friend has had four children very close in age to mine, she is really quite a lot heavier, size 22- 24 and she has never gained much more than five pounds, and all her babies have been healthy too. I believe this last pregnancy she actually lost a stone and her mw was really happy with that. I really believe that you need to just follow what your body tells you and not stress about a scale, there is of course an obvious difference between a diet of ice cream and a diet full of veg with a few treats. Oh just a though, my mum gained huge amounts of weight with all her five pregnancies and after 6 children is still a size 6, so I do wonder if weight gain in pregnancy is a lot to do with genetics.
