Birth Weights
Does anyone know - does baby's birth weight relate to mum and dads ? I was 6lb2 (overdue) and DH was 6lb5. Does this mean I might have a nice 6lb'er ???

I think the baby will weight what it weighs, I odnt really believe in myths about it weighing what we weighed
I was 6lb and my hubby was 7lb4oz, my little girl was 7lb1oz. I feel a lot bigger with this baby so god knows what she will weigh

I think it does have something to do with parents birth weight. My mw said so as well. I am hopeing my little man will be no more than 7lb, I am only petite I was born 3 months early at 2lb so I don't count but hubby was over 6lb, that would do me nicely!

I asked my MW this and she said it does have a bearing on it. I was 10lb 11.5oz and hubby was a little dot as was prem so i'm hopeing for somewhere inbetween but knowing my luck he'll be like my side of the family and be a monster!! lol

I think birth weight is dependant on so many factors that yours n hubbies birth weight may give you a guide but as alot of the girls on here have already shown it isn't always the case other things such as your diet, smoking and environmental factors all play a part.
Speaking with a midwife at aquanatal class on Tuesday she said the average birth weight is rising because of improved diets etc so your baby is likely to be bigger than you were!
