Bottle help - desperate!

Hi all, me again!

Wondering if you can give me your thoughts on bottles... Toby gets serious wind and finds it hard to bring it up so spend a lot of time being uncomfortable and in the evenings we are getting some serious screaming episodes bless him.

He started off on Tommee Tippee closer to nature bottles with size 1 teats but was falling asleep at the bottle, getting frustrated and taking an hour to feed only 3ozs! So on HV advice we tried him on size 2 teats and he has been getting on OK with these, altho sometimes he makes me think the milk is coming too fast as he does choke / cough a bit. We tried a variflow teat too but didn't make any diff. to the size 1 teat.

After a bad episode on Friday and my sister commenting that his TT bottles don't seem to be doing him any good (she fed him and said he was taking in more than normal air), we tried him on an avent bottle... size 1 and 2, too slow and Toby got cross etc. size 3, way too fast ending in another bad wind episode. Can a teat that is too fast increase wind??? are the TT size 2 teats therefore doing him no good???

I am tempted to try Dr browns bottles but they are SO expensive and I've already spent too much. Dr has suggested trying new milk first for 2 weeks, then trying the variflow teats again.

Does anyone have any advice on bottles and wind and what their LOs are like? I hate seeing my little guy suffering like this and just want to sort him out!!!

Please help! xxxxxxxxx

i used TT bottles for the 1st 3 months. but towards the end emma was taking an hour to have a bottle.

I changed to MAM bottles (BOGOF on their website) and she's sooo much better now!

Mummyjoo I have 4 Dr Browns bottles after Nicholas that you can have if you want. They could probably do with new teats as theyve discoloured over time with sterilising etc but apart from that theyre perfect, although one lid is missing. Let me know if you want them and il post them tommorrow x

I use Avent and Riley always gets a lot of wind with them so I wouldn't bother buying any if I were you! I'd try the Dr Browns or the TT anti-colic as they seem to have the best reviews for wind/colic.

As for the teat size I think you've just gotta find the happy medium. One hv said to me that its best to go up a teat size so he's not sucking as hard, then another said to try going down a teat size. Think you've just gotta see what works best for Toby.

Dex is really windy we use the tommy tippee colic ones - he is on the number one teat still, we do sometimes use a number two which he eats quicker but does the whole cough splutter - we use infacol with every feed which has been a life saver - he used to cry with wind for 3 - 4 hours straight before we tried it.

.. I also which is probably naughty! used a sterile needle to put an extra hole in his number 1 teat - to get a flow in between the number 1 and 2..... which as worked though I cant work out which bottles I did and which I didnt....
