Scared I won't be offered a section next time.

Just now I am only planning my next child so not even pregnant yet but I am thinking about my experiences last time and how I don't want things to turn out hte same again. My body basically doesn't agree with syntosin so induction didn't work and just stressed me and my baby out no end til he was in distress and ended up with am emergency section. They said at the time I would never be induced again but you know that way I'm scared that when I go back next time the consultant or MW says there is no record of that and won't give me an elective. Now obviously a vbac would be lovely if I went myself, it's not like I'm not allowed to give birth naturally or that I wouldn't like that, just that I can't have syntosin again.

Anyone else been in this situation and got their elective section second time round? Or anyone been refused second time round?

If you have already had a section most consultants will give you another if you wish, if one doesnt you just change until you find one who does.x

most consultants are willing to offer vbac, however most dont like inducing you as it increases the chance of a uterine tear (but only by a tiny bit.) so if you didnt want to be induced they would def be willing to give you a section.

Why don't you research some more about sections and vbac. Can I ask how many wks u were when u were induced? Did u have a straight forward pregnancy ? I'm so interested in this subject, i'm working in a maternity unit as an auxillary and i want to train as a midwife. Sometimes i feel that women aren't given all the facts.

i had a failed induction that ended in c section. this time i saw the dr at 20 wks. she said they wouldn't induce me but would book a c section for 40wks and if i go into labour before should try v bac.

my baby was big last time and i don't want to go overdue again and then end up with em cs x

I had a vbac with my second after emergency section with my eldest. I originally booked for a section but changed my mind, but we agree that i'd have a planned section at term plus 10 if i didnt go naturally which i did. Most consultants dont like to induce someone who's had a previous section as it increases the already existent risk of scar rupture which can unfortunately be extremely serious. And i believe the few consultants out there who do allow induction would only use prostin or break waters not a drip as the drip is what causes the more intense contractions which'll obviously put the biggest strain on the scar.

hi, im deanne! with my first, i was induced, 14 hr labour and ended up having emergency c section! spoke to midwife about my concerns this time round and explained that its like a fear of a traumatic birth again and she said it would be fine for me to have elective c section. i know they try to encourage vbac's now but the overall decision lies with the mother!
