I had a Emergency C-Sec in may and am to wanting to start trying for another its unbelievable!

I do want to try for a VBAC next time - for those who have had another baby after a c sec how long did you wait x

They recommend a year to let things heal properly. 6 months at least because thats how long it takes for the muscles to heal underneath. The skin is the first to heal so apparences are deceptive. I would take to your doctor first and see what they think. I had a section 15 months ago today and I'm waiting til september before trying for no 2.

i was told to wait 6 months if i wanted a vbac but as long as my six week post birth scan was ok then straight away was fine for another section.x

we are currently almost 7 weeks with baby no 2 and my dd was born by emsc in july 08.xxx

I was told that whilst they say wait 12 months there is actually any real medical evidence which shows you are less likely to have a uterine tear after 12 months. There is evidence to show if you fall pg before in the first 12 weeks there is a tiny increased chance (1.04% according to the paper i was reading) of uterine tear.

I fell pg 8 months after my section and was allowed to try for a vbac. I ended up with another em sec and then fell when baby was 7 months and i am now 16 weeks, so this will be my third section.

So id say if you feel ready go for it, ps i have never had a post birth scan

I was told by my consultant that 3 months is plenty time... Goodluck with whatever u decide! There does seem to be alot of varying advice, I'm sure your dr will tell you what is best for you as an individual x

Umm i assume so honey, its standard at my hospital. So ask your gp when you go, basically i had a letter through when baby was around 4 weeks saying my scan was 2 weeks later and my check was about 2 days later.

The risk is so small but they have to tell you about it.

I had twins first and had been in labour for 36 hours but was only 2-3cms dilated and i developed rapid onset pre eclampsia (basically my blood pressure went from normal to off the scale in a 30 minute period) then twin 1 became v distressed so em sec under GA.

Then with DS3 i was desperate for a vbac but 30 hour labour and only dilated again to 3 cm and then started to bleed heavily so they took me for another em section tho i dont class that as em sec as there wasnt the same rush it was much more dignified.

I would try again for a vbac but the consultants said i have an incompentent cervix so basically cld never successfully give birth but really glad i tried

No mine didnt even look at the scar, its crazy how different postnatal care can be

Thats awful, my scar was checked most days(though it had healed within a week).

I wasn't told anything about how long to wait before having another baby after my emcs! My daughter was born in Aug 08 by emcs and I'm now 13 weeks pregnant with my second.

i'm having the same thoughts too, altho not yet ds is only 14weeks lol. i wld like aother baby tho but i'm a bit scared about the birth again as last time did not go to plan, altho im not scared about having another em c section because i know they know what they're" doing (surgeons that is) and it was ever so calm in the operating room it was all the stuff that leads up to that point that i don't wanna repaet but then i do wanna try for a vbac.

i didn't have my postnatal check til 12weeks. they say its a 6-8week check and i was booked for the 8 weeks but they phoned on the day to cancel! grr! and the next they had available was 4 weeks later. it was only with a nurse who didn't check my scar or anything and when i said i felt really down she said i needed to see a doctor so all in all was pretty pointless appointment. if we do have another baby i wont bother with the 6-8week check i'll just see a gp instead as the nurse cldn't do anything other than take my blood pressure and check my weight (altho not sure why she needed to check my post birth weight, seemed abit of a pointless task to me as they didn't check it at all whilst i was pregnant) xx

I'm still waiting on my 6 week check up and gonna chat to them then about what they say the wait time is....

omg that is so wierd cos iwnt another i think its cos i miss haveing my bump. Even thow iv had 3 sectons i want another lol id do it again tomorrow but i got the implant just to make sure i dnt get broody to quick or if i do its tuff tittys for 3 yrs lol to let my body heal xx
