Any ideas for helping/supporting young mums?
Hi ladies,
I am trying to do something to support all Mums in my area and I would especially love to help the younger mums. I think that too many assumptions are made as to what you need rather than actually asking you so any ideas you can come up with would be great.
I am hoping to provide an informal drop in days which would have different people popping in (have a really lovely bunch of women that don't judge!) like a midwife and a speach therapist so that Mums can ask any questions without feeling they are being 'watched' or the like.
Also a place to come and do baby massage, find out about local events, meet other mums or just have a coffee.
I found it really hard to go out at first and I think if I had gone to a nice place while pregnant I would have been confident to go back there with the baby.
Anyway what do you all think of the idea? It would be open to all Mums but would this be intimidating? Would it be better to have different groups?
Thanks to you all for reading,
Laura

Heya iam a young mum i had my daughter in august 08 when i was 17 but i'm now 18!
i had a local mother and baby group by were i used to live (i have now moved area) and i used to go with my mummy friend who was also the same age as me with her daughter! we felt sooo intimidated going to the group because all the older mums had this 'bond' because they were older so me and my friend didn't really fit in and stopped going! however my daughter loved going and loves playing with other babies so i feel a little selfish that i stopped going the group because after all it was for her benefit not mine!
but it would be brilliant to go to a group for just young mums i dont think it would be as intimidating and it would be best for both babies and mums to mingle!
