What Age Gap?
Hello Ladies,
I was just wondering if you would let me know what age gap you have between your two youngest children?
Tyler (our first boy) is 4.5 months old.
We would like another but it's just talk rather than planning at the moment as we're not sure when to start trying ....
I think wait for 2 years ..... then you have a terrible 2 and a newborn, 3 years .... toddler and a newborn ..... but I don't want to leave it too late !!!!!! Is trying sooner .... too soon ???
What are the pros and cons for your age gaps ???? xx

We knew we wanted two close in age but didnt think about the pro's and cons, and just let nature take its cause! If you dont take any precautions then I think what will meant to be will meant to be. You could sit there all day and count out the cons and there will always be some. In my opinion having them as close as possible is better as they are then near enough the same age, into the same stuff, and can learn eachother things and keep eachother occupied.
Mine will have a 21 month gap and I dont even worry about when my son hits terrible twos its all part of the challenges of parenting and might sound weird but i cant wait lol :) x

Theres 17months between my two. We wanted a small age gap, for many reasons, they are the best of friends already, plus we get all nappies, teething out the way etc. I've found it hard because dd2 is a difficult baby, she digestive problems, and only sleeps for 45mins at a time. But as hard as it is, its still wonderful.
My friend over the road waited till her first was at school, so she could enjoy the day times alone with her new baby.

My first little girl is only 9 months old and I'm pregnant with little girl number 2! There will be just 12 months between them. I know it will be hard work with two so close together in age but I think it's easier dealing with the pregnancy when my little one is small, rather than running about as a 2/3-year old. Only time will tell.....! xxxx

we planned to ttc baby no2 after my sons 1st birthday.... but it didnt happen, and just as we were going to give up (3yrs later) it happened! and now im thinking its probably going to work out better, my wee boy is going to have the summer holidays to bond with the new baby then hes going to start school, gives me time with baby! he will be able to help out, hes already potty trained and can pretty much do most things his self.... but i do like to mother him :)

Hi, there's nearly 22 months between Jacob (2) and Noah (4 1/2 months). We wanted a small age gap as we hoped they'd be close and into the same things. Also I'm 33 now so I got a bit paranoid about not being able to have another if we left it too long, and we knew we definitely wanted another child.
It's good having quite a small gap - we hadn't totally left the baby-type stage behind, so it wasn't too much of a shock (well, after the first week or so maybe! ). Noah is very interested in watching Jacob do stuff too, so I don't have to be his only source of entertainment - very handy! xx

I have 11.5yrs between my two and its great
It certainly wasn't planned that way - just took me a bit longer to find the right man to have another baby with (learnt my lesson the first time )
My sis has 18mths between her two and it is hard work but nice as well.
Its really personaly choice - there are pros and cons to any age gap. I'd say go for it when you are both ready for another one xx

when this one is born, Sam will be 2 yrs and 4 mths - wanted to start trying just after his 1 st b'day, but he was a really difficult baby and even now the nights he slept through are only in double figures, so we thought we'd wait - but as it turns out we didn't wait that much longer, lol

I have Lola who will be 2 on 11th July and my second baby is due on 28th July so the age gap we have is 2 yrs and 17 days!
There is 12 months and 2 weeks between me and my brother. My mum said it was hard but i always had someone to play with for as long as i can remember.
We didnt want a huge gap between Lola and the next one but Lola wasnt planned and we caught with both pregnancies straight away so i guess they came at the time they did for a reason!

i'm pregnant with my second and my dd will be 2 yrs 4 months when lo born. I didn't really think about age gap too quickly just knew that I didn't want them too far apart and we started trying when the bad memories of my first pregnancy had worn off a bit.
I'm hoping that dd will love helping me with new baby and that by making her feel included it will all turn out fine.

Ive got 16 months between my two boys. It was hard for the first month or two, added to the prob, we moved house and my oh had menengitis, but then we had a few months that was ok. Once the little one started walking it was hard again for maybe 8 or 9 months, but its not too bad now.
The good thing is they are company for each other and they play really well together.
Im 10 wks now and this baby will be born when the youngest is 2 months off being 3. I would have liked a smaller gap between these 2 as well but it wasnt to be

There will be 3 1/2 years gap between my daughter and this baby.
Even though we started trying when she was 21months I am very happy with the gap and its ideal for us as she will be starting nursery in september so I'll have time for the baby every morning!

I agree that it is when you're ready and there are definite pros and cons to all gaps! My girls are 15 and 6 and we're ttc no 3 so there will be a nearly 9 yr gap between first two and 7 years between next two! I'm 41 so don't let age put you off!
Ours has turned out like this because of our circumstances and the worst bit is when I meet new people they always assume they must be from different relationships... nope we've been together for 25 years! Also with very small or large gaps people assume it's an accident
We've found it great as no1 happily babysits no2 and was at the homebirth of her sister and even cut the cord!
I say go with what feels right for you!

I agree if it feels right then go for it.xxx
