Why choose organic food?
  • Why choose organic food?

  • Is organic food better for your children?

Even if you didn't bother with organic produce before you had a baby, perhaps you've started thinking more about what goes into the food you serve now you're a mum.

If you are considering going organic, these five reasons for doing so could help make up your mind:

1. Protect your child
Children are more sensitive than adults to toxins, so choosing organic is a way to reduce their exposure to harmful chemicals, such as pesticides, pesticide residues and herbicides.

2. Healthy and nutritious
Studies show that, on average, organic food has 95% fewer chemicals than non-organic foods. It also contains more antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

3. GM-free
For many parents, the jury is still out on Genetically Modified foods. If it is something you are concerned about, organic food is GM-free.

4. Animal welfare
Animals used for certified organic meats, poultry, dairy and eggs are free range and meet strict welfare standards.

5. Wildlife friendly
Organic farming encourages wildlife and supports more birds, insects and animals.
