Nutty chocolate chip cookies
  • Nutty chocolate chip cookies

  • A healthy sweet treat your toddler will enjoy helping to bake.

Sweet treats don't have to mean high sugar, high fat and commercial additives.

Bake a batch of these at home, pop a couple into a sandwich bag (the Baco Rainbow range of colourful sandwich bags with stickers is ideal) before you go out - and you've got a nutritous snack for your little one while you're out and about.

Nutty Chocolate Chip Cookies
Makes approx 20 cookies

Really easy to make, and so tasty...

250g porridge oats
125g dark chocolate drops or broken up choclate
50g blanched almonds, chopped
75g roasted hazelnuts, chopped
125g soft brown sugar
2 eggs
125g softened butter

Pre-heat the oven to 180°C/gas mark 4.

Put all the ingredients, except eggs and butter, into a large mixing bowl and stir until thoroughly mixed.

Beat the egg and mix into the dry ingredients, followed by the butter, stirring until it forms a chunky dough.

Use your hands to form the dough into small balls and place on a greased, non-stick baking sheet or on a baking tin covered in foil. Leave space between the balls as they will spread out as they cook.

Bake for about 15 minutes in the centre of the oven. Remove from the oven and place cookies on a wire rack until completely cool.
