IF YOU DIDN'T MAKE THE BABY SHOW:
I didn’t manage to make any of the Baby Shows can I still take part in the competition? Yes you can. We have a separate gallery for parents and guardians who couldn’t make any of The Baby Shows. You simply choose ONE favourite baby photo and upload it yourself by following the instructions HERE (not yet live).
Why can’t get my picture to upload? Please make sure images are 300 pixels wide x 360 pixels high. They must have a resolution of no more than 72dpi (dots per inch).
I’ve uploaded my picture successfully why can’t I view it straight away? Before your picture goes live it needs to be approved by Babyexpert.com to make sure it meets with our requirements and is suitable for our site. We aim to approve and publish pictures within 24hrs of your upload, Mon-Fri.
Can I upload more than one picture? No, our rule is one picture per baby, so we will only approve the first picture submitted, and subsequent photos of the same baby will be deleted. This is in your best interests - it’s better to concentrate on getting as many votes as possible for one picture, rather than a few votes for lots of photos.
IF YOU ATTENDED ONE OF THE BABY SHOWS:
My baby’s photo was taken at one of The Baby Shows, when can I see it on Babyexpert.com? We aim to have your baby pictures live on Babyexpert.com approximately two weeks after each show. Keep checking the Babyexpert.com home page message board for any updates.
I went to one of the Baby Shows how do I find my picture? After your baby's photo was taken on the Prima Baby stand you will have been given a piece of paper with your name and a picture reference number on. You should receive an email from us once the photos have gone live online. To find your picture simply login using your email address and the picture reference number given at the show.
What if I’ve lost the reference number I was given at The Baby Show? You should still be able to find your baby's picture by going to the 'Photos' channel and entering your baby's first or last name in the search box which will appear.
What if the picture is not my baby? Check that you have entered the details correctly, with correct spellings. If your baby does not appear then please email us with your details at info@babyexpert.co.uk
GENERAL VOTING QUESTIONS:
Do I have to be registered to vote? You don’t have to be registered to vote for a baby. However, if you would like to register to stay updated with the latest news and offers from Babyexpert.com please follow the below instructions.
How do I register? Click on the pink/purple 'Join Baby Expert' strip at the top left hand side of the home page and follow the instructions.
I’ve found the picture of my baby, how do I vote? To register a vote for your chosen baby simply click on their picture. A 'vote' box should appear, and also a 'word' box. Simply re-type the word in the box underneath and then click on vote to register your vote. If your vote is cast successfully a 'Thanks for voting' box should appear.
How many times can I vote? You can vote for a baby once a day.
I’ve voted once but now it won’t let me vote again. Why is this? You will not be able to vote for your baby until the 24-hour black-out period has elapsed from your last vote. You will get an error message until that time.
I have waited a day but still cannot vote. You may need to clear your computer's cache. This is your computer's memory of the pages you have viewed. When you go to a page you have already seen, your computer will pull it from your cache (memory) rather than go out to the worldwide web, as cacheing a page is faster. By clearing the cache, when you go to that page the computer has to pull it from the worldwide web and so you get a fresh copy. Make sure you go back to the home page before you clear your cache.
How do I clear my computers cache?
For PCS: Go to Tools (on the top horizontal bar) then to Internet Options, then on Temporary Internet Files (about halfway down the General page) then to Delete Files. This can take a few minutes to clear so don't worry if the page seems to freeze for a while.
For MACS: Go to the browser name, i.e. Safari or Firefox etc. at the top left-hand corner of the browser window. Then select ‘empty cache’ from the drop-down menu. This can take a few minutes to clear so don't worry if the page seems to freeze for a while.
How does babyexpert.com stop cheating? To stop any form of cheating our competition runs through a cacheing system. This is why you have to unscramble and type in a code every time you vote.
Why are some babies getting so many votes compared to mine? Thanks to our cacheing system (see above) no cheating is possible. Therefore babies with lots of votes simply have large families/communities voting for them. Be sure to tell, and send a link to, as many friends and family as possible to get a better chance.
My baby was at a Baby Show later in the year, how do you make voting fair? Ten babies from each Baby Show will make the final - these will consist of the 10 babies from each show who receive the most online votes within their own Baby Show gallery, plus 10 babies with the most votes from the non-Baby Show competition entrants on Babyexpert.com. The judging panel is made up of Prima Baby Editor Elaine Griffiths, Show Director of The Baby Show, Nicola Muller, Communications Manager of Canon, Sarah Dale, and Director of Urban Angels model agency Alysia Lewis. The 40 finalists will be shortlisted by the judging panel to a group of 10, and these 10 will receive a Canon SELPHYCompact Photo Printer. The overall winner will be chosen by the judging panel.
What can I win? The overall winner will become the Face of the Baby Show and will take part in any promotional material needed for the 2010 shows. The Face of the Baby Show is a non-payment modelling job. The Face of the Baby Show is also receive a year-long modelling contract with Urban Angels. 10 runners-up will each receive a Canon SELPHY Compact Photo Printer.
When will the winners be announced? The 40 finalists will be notified in Dec2009/Jan2010, and the 10 finalists will be notified in Jan2010 for final judging in Feb2010. These dates may change depending on circumstances.
