  • We see so much in the press these days about the latest fads to help baby feed or help prevent colic but do they really work and how safe are they. There are numerous additions one can add to feeds such as Infacol colic drops, Dentinox colic drops , Colocynthis powders; all which help prevent or treat colic. There are a wide range of feeding teats which can be tried. This is something different, Biogaia probiotic drops work by creating a health gut flora to aid digestion and hopefully reduce colic. This is a live culture so the drops need to be refigerated. Just adding 5 drops daily can make all the difference to baby. They were previously available as Infacol Probiotic Drops but have now been relaunched as Biogaia Probiotic Drops available in the UK from the registered online pharmacy http://www.pcpdirect.co.uk. So the question is do they really work , well read the literature on the home page http://www.biogaia.com and you would think so, indeed having tried them there was some improvement. The best way to find out is for more people to try them and let everyone know the results. These drops are not cheap but what price do you put on a good nights sleep? Below describes the drops in detail. Probiotics are live microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit on the host (WHO/FAO 2001). Some probiotics are yeasts but most are bacteria similar to the vast numbers that live naturally in the gut. Most probiotic organisms belong to the genera of Lactobacillus or Bifidobacteria. Some of these bacteria are among the first to colonize the digestive tract in humans from the very first days of our lives. These friendly bacteria help protect against harmful ones. They also play a role in digestion and help with the development and support of the immune system. Different probiotic products contain different species, strains and different numbers of bacteria. BioGaia Probiotic products contain the health promoting bacterium Lactobacillus reuteri (L. reuteri) BioGaia probiotic drops - Reduces daily crying time Many parents will know what it's like when children get an upset stomach or colic. For use from birth: 5 drops once daily Contains Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis - a naturally occurring probiotic Easy administration No sugar, no preservatives Does not change the taste of food or drink
