Geoffrey and Monica Bull stayed at Pierre et Vacances' Pont Royal Holiday Village, Provence, France with son Patrick, 3.
‘We took a two-hour Gatwick-Marseille budget flight and picked up a hire car for the 45km drive to the site. Our self-catering apartment was clean, well equipped and roomy with good child-friendly facilities, including a pre-booked cot and a hired highchair. It was tempting to stay on-site so Patrick could take advantage of all the special toddler amenities, including a pool, playground, kids' club, play area and farm. But venturing out occasionally to discover the wonderful hilltop villages of Provence gave us the best of both worlds. There are shops, restaurants and bars on site, so it's easy to alternate eating in with going out. We particularly liked the gated community feel of the place, which made it safe for young children, and there are plenty of activities, including golf and archery for adults.'
Best thing: ‘Family-orientated environment with lots of child-friendly facilities.'
Worst thing: ‘Mainly French spoken in kids' clubs.'
