Enjoying your pregnancy

Finding out you're pregnant means an exciting few months ahead for you and your partner - looking forward to, planning and buying for the special new addition to your family. But it's important you both find time to relax and unwind when you can. You may still be working during the first two trimesters, so make sure you don't overdo it, and take time out of your busy schedule to sit down and share a soothing cup of tea.

Relaxing with friends

Getting together with friends and family can be a great way to unwind over the next nine months. Sharing stories and a chat with girlfriends old and new will help you relax and look forward to your new arrival, so put your feet up and have a catch-up over a warming cup of tea. Don't forget that, in moderation, tea is a safe and soothing hot drink to enjoy throughout your pregnancy and the perfect option for antenatal class get-togethers, a baby shower, or just lunch with friends!

Your healthy pregnancy

How much tea is safe to drink during your pregnancy? The Food Standards Authority recommends a maximum daily allowance of 200mg caffeine while you're pregnant (that's equivalent to two mugs of tea or instant coffee a day). That's because too much caffeine can lead to a lower birth weight and increased risk of miscarriage (source: British Medical Journal). For more info on how much caffeine is in food and drink see here. If you enjoy a cuppa, cutting down may seem difficult, but it doesn't have to be. Tetley want you to enjoy your pregnancy without it being stressful, so they've put together some tips on caffeine and pregnancy for you.
