I had my scan this Friday! Oh my god talk about emotional!

They were very good, we only waited about 20 mins then we went in. On went the gel which was warm, I thought it would be freezing. As soon as she placed it on my tummy we could see the baby, it was amazing. It was waving both hands in the air and hiccupping! I can’t believe how small it is yet all the bits were there, he/she only measures 5cm from head to bum. She showed us the feet, the hands, the tummy, pointed out other bits like the stomach, etc… I had the biggest lump in my throat!

She then took the measurements, i.e. fluid in the neck and I’m pleased to report only a 1 in 4911 chance of the baby being downs.

Roll on the next one! It’s on the 5 November, I can’t wait!!

Well I had my booking appointment today, a lot of things happened and a lot didn’t that I thought would have.

Firstly when I arrived I was given my maternity notes to fill out, got half way through them then the midwife, a very friendly lady called Jenny, asked me to go into her “office”. We went through my answers but as I’m not very exciting and have no rare disorders this didn’t take very long. We then went through the pregnancy book and she explained/elaborated on a couple of points. After that it was the blood and urine tests, I was quite looking forward to the second one as I was bursting! I thought I’d best not go beforehand as I new I’d have to give a sample. Silly me, I should have remembered I can more or less pee on demand at the minute I go that often. She very kindly let me pop off to the loo first once I told her I was dying to go! She tested the urine for protein and sugar, luckily I had none. She tells me that the urine is then sent off to test for infections. Afterwards she tried to take some blood but my veins were having none of it and could only manage a trickle out of each arm, very strange as I give blood every four months…. I now have to have blood taken at the hospital after my scan, just hope I’m not waiting for hours…

Well, that’s about all that happened :o(

I’d read on the net yesterday that they’d probably listen to the heartbeat and have a little prod on my tummy but no such luck. I don’t know why this bothered me but it did. Up until now they only have my say so that I’m pregnant at all! At times I keep wondering if its all in my head. If I’ve not looked at the pregnancy test 20 times I’ve not looked at it at all. I even think I might take it with me to the scan in case they can’t find anything and try to lock me up cause they think I’m demented!

Well it’s only about …..36 hours and four minutes away…..I can’t wait!!

I'm pregnant!!! Oh my god! I always said I wanted to have children around 25 and now that I'm pregnant it seems too soon!!

I'm 12 weeks and counting, I have all the usual symptoms....

1)Sickness - this started around week 5. It hasn't been too bad to be fair and on week 10 it really died down but this week it seems to be back with a vengeance!
2)Tiredness – Oh my god! I feel like a walking zombie most of the time, I’ve never been one for going to bed late and now I’m paying for it. Must really try and turn the tele off earlier!
3)Sore boobs – this isn’t funny anymore! They started to get a little tender around 6 weeks but jesus they don’t have hurt now! I’ve been sat at my desk today with continuing stabbing pain in my left breast, almost feels like a needles being pushed into me every 3 to 5 minutes. I've also noticed little pimples forming around the areola like the books mention, something to do with oils….. can’t remember now, probably something to do with symptom 4!
4)Vagueness – I can seem to concentrate on anything for long periods, I’m easily distracted and just trying to cover up my new laziness from my boss.
5)Obsessive need to know everything! – All I do all day is read, everything from breastfeeding to the week by week growing of my baby – let me tell you, one websites description of my 12 week old feotus is not enough, I read 5 different ones and choose the one I prefer! Especially this week, one website says it measures 3in where as another one says 2in. This week I go with the first one, not sure why but bigger sounds better.
6)Expanding waist line – I’m still wearing the same clothes but I’m finding it more difficult to try and hold my tummy in. By the time 5 o’clock roles round and I get home I can’t wait to let it all hang out and boy does it seem to hang out. My stomach looks massive!
7)Discharge - Has to be mentioned I guess but I wont say any more…
8)Constipation – Yep, I’m constipated, it’s so frustrating and when I do manage to go it looks like I’ve been on the Guiness Diet! Something to do with the folic acid supplements I’ve been told.

I can’t remember if I have any more symptoms, again probably due to symptom 4!

Well I have my “booking” appointment tomorrow with the midwife – Roll on the questions….

As for my scan, it’s this Friday (31st Aug), I can’t wait!! I’ll finally get a look at the little beggar who’s causing all of the above! – I’m guessing it will feel a lot more real then…….
