Your essential hospital stay checklist
Here's what you'll need for the duration of your hospital stay.

Several pairs of front-fastening nightclothes - this will make breastfeeding easier

Extra underwear or disposable knickers

Dressing gown - if you're up and about, or have visitors

Extra large sanitary towels

Nursing bras - there are some lovely ones available now.

Breastpads

Towel - your hospital may ask you to bring one

Pillow - it's comforting to have something that smells of home

Wash bag - don't forget hair bands and a hairbrush

Small mirror - so you look your best for visitors

Magazines - make sure you have the latest copy of Prima Baby

If you have an older child, a small present for them from the new baby is often a good way to ensure the first meeting goes well

Eye shade - to block out the lights if trying to sleep

An outfit to wear home - choose your favourite maternity outfit as your pre-bump clothes may not fit yet
