My easy 90-minute labour
  • My easy 90-minute labour

  • Donna was holding baby Samuel in her arms within an hour and a half of the first labour pains.

Donna Rowe tells her birth story: I woke up about 4.15am with what I thought was a contraction but not sure as I had been sound asleep.

I went to the toilet to see if that would help, but no the contractions started coming every 5 mins. Paged midwife at 4.40am who said she would be over asap (I was having a planned home birth).

She arrived at 5am just as my other children were leaving with their Gran and Granddad.

At around 5.20am the contractions started to come every 3 mins so the second midwife was called and asked to attend asap as things were moving very quickly.

At 5.27am my waters broke, at 5.35am I started to push and at 5.37am Samuel was born just as the second midwife arrived.

I didn't use any form of pain relief which I am really pleased about, and thankfully I didn't tear which was even better.

Only side effect is that Samuel has bloodshot eyes from the quick delivery. I delivered the placenta naturally about 15 mins later sitting on a bed pan and then got to have a shower.

All in the comfort of my own house which was fantastic and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Donna is mother to Samuel 2 weeks, Natalie 2 years, Alexander 9 & Rebekah 10
