'We regularly find over two-thirds of child car seats are fitted wrongly,' says Duncan Vernon, road-safety officer at the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents. Here are five of the most common fitting mistakes parents make:

1 HARNESS TOO SLACK
You shouldn't be able to get more than two fingers between the harness and your child's chest.
