  • Toddler loves his childminder more than me!

  • Q: My two year old loves his childminder so much he screams when I come to pick him up, and cries for her all the way home. Could he really love her more than me?

Child psychologist Lauren Laverne says: No!

Your child clearly has a good relationship with your childminder, but I wonder how much preparation there is between you arriving and you both leaving.

Your child may be letting you know how hard it is to manage this transition.

Send a text to the childminder when you are on your way so she can let your child know that once your arrive it will be time to go home.

If the tantrums persist, spend a few minutes with your child and the childminder before you leave, when you can both interact with him. Try to relax and take the time necessary to ensure your child leaves in a calm and happy way.
