  • My baby looks bow-legged

  • My 14-month-old son is walking but he’s a bit bow-legged. I’m not sure if this is normal or not.

Dr Rob replies: Babies are born with bow legs but most parents don't notice them until their child starts walking. If the bowing is symmetrical, he's standing and walking normally and is a normal height and weight, the bowing is nothing to worry about. If you think there's a problem, ask your GP or health visitor.

As your son grows, his knees will straighten. In fact, between 3 and 8 years his knees will bend inwards slightly and he'll become a little knock-kneed, rather than bending out as they do now.
