  • Is toe-sucking bad for my baby?

  • Q My 6-month-old baby likes to suck his toes. It looks very strange and I’m not sure whether I should be discouraging him. What do you think?

Health visitor Dawn replies: Between 4 and 8 months babies explore by putting things in their mouths - and that includes any body parts that will reach that far. Although it looks bizarre it's probably very soothing for him and it's just a natural stage of his development, so don't worry about it.
