  • I was taking the Pill when I got pregnant

  • Will it do my baby any harm?

Dr Sarah Jarvis (author of Pregnancy for Dummies) says: This is not a cause for alarm. There is no evidence that becoming pregnant while on the Pill does the foetus any harm. The hormones in the Pill are similar to the ones your body is going to be producing naturally.

Stop taking the Pill as soon as you know you are pregnant, and see your doctor.

Missing a Pill, sickness or taking antibiotics can all weaken the effect of the Pill and be the reason for you falling pregnant.

Becoming pregnant after taking the morning-after pill, however, can slightly increase your chances of an ectopic pregnancy, so if your period is late or you experience pain, seek medical help as soon as possible.
