  • I struggle with motherhood

  • Q My friends seem at ease with parenthood and are positive with their children, but I find it a struggle. Is this normal?

Psychologist Laverne replies: Being a parent doesn't come naturally to everyone, so there's no need to feel guilty.
Look at what your friends are doing and pick up some tips, but at the same time, don't assume that they're finding it a breeze. They're probably not.
Remember that parenting skills kick in at different times. Some parents enjoy the baby stage while some enjoy toddlers and so on. We are all skilled in different ways.
